eviath is a region within the Borean Ocean, due west of Alsara. Leviath is considered a cursed place by both the Northmen and the Se'Vikorans. It is largely a barren abyssal plain, with little reason for any but transients to sail over its choppy waters. It takes its name from the Old Nortish word Jevayathe, meaning vastness or bareness, such as a tundra.

Se'Vikoran Legend[]

Leviath is said to be the site of an ancient battle that determined the future of the Se'Vikoran people.

The Norts, centures before Elysia's founding, united their clans in what was to be a great raid, massing an armada over Leviath, meaning to proceed to the mainland and sweep over the humankin that resided there at that time. Hearing of this, the Se'Vikorans assembled their own fleet and set out to meet the coming storm head on. Lasting for several days, the battle was seeming to be a decisive Nort victory. The corpses that had sunken into the depths, however, were said to have awoken something, a creature of the depths called the Leviathan. It thrashed both the fleets, but the Se'Vikorans were able to escape mostly unharmed, while the Norts took heavy losses that had them reeling and weakened for a decade.

Modern historians theorize that the Leviathan was simply a storm that had rolled in, symbolizing the anger of nature at the wanton violence. Even so, the Se'Vikorans revere the mythical creature, often carving wooden totems in the fanged image of a snake.
