he Lunari, referred to by the Empires of Men as the Moon Elves, are a purple skinned people of the Al’Ari. Originally, they made their home in what is now Eastern Fangirm, living among the dense forests of the Gola Peninsula, where their nocturnal lifestyle was best supported by a year-round temperate climate. They are differentiated from their other Al’Ari kin by deep purple skin and solid, black eyes, off-putting to most who are unfamiliar with their type. They also tend to be short in stature, towering above only the Dwarves.

For centuries, their lot was one of (relative) peace. With the coming of the Empires and the modern ages, however, the Lunari soon found themselves in a struggle for their very survival. Beneath the forests of the Lunari’s home lie rich deposits of iron, as well as other valuable minerals and metals. The armies of Fangirm soon found it fit to march into the Ahai Forest, the furthest Shadowbeech woods south of the Fangirmish Isthmus and the home of the Lunari capital of Lunavat. Many records of this conflict have been lost to time (or, more likely, they simply never existed at all), however, we do know that the Lunari population decreased drastically in the bloody five years that followed. Fangirm was victorious in the end, but at the cost of an entire generation of young men, both Elf and Human.

The Lunari as a people survived, some by their wits and some with the help of Elysia. Where Fangirm would cut them down and subjugate them, the Gem of the North gave them a new lease on life, assisting in a migration to the great shadowbeech forest of Mayahina in eastern Se’Vikoral. Many did not survive this arduous exodus over mountain and stream, falling to exposure, hunger and disease. Those that survived the journey to the dark forest built a fiercely independent kingdom there, owing only a symbolic loyalty to the Se’Vikoran crown.

While the Lunari still have a presence in the South, their influence has waned to nothing outside of Mayahina. Those that remain on the islands to the east of the mainland exist now as the last tribes of the Lunari, inhabiting the last refuge they could find under the ever watchful and hungering eye of the Fangir Guard.
